At Vibrant Family Chiropractic Caboolture and Morayfield we welcome all ages into our practice to see if chiropractic is right for them. Here’s a few groups of people who commonly come in to see us:
Babies and Kids
We take an orientation towards natural, conservative care. When parents bring their child in, we use an evidence informed person centred approach. Our initial process involves a thorough health history and a best evidence assessment of their functional and developmental state relative to their age. At this stage, if referral to another provider for co-managemnt or other assessment is required, we let their care provider know. On their report visit, we review the findings, make recommendations for a trial of care and time for a review, discuss options with their care provider for their informed consent, and may start chiropractic care. This care is considered a low risk health modality, and any adjustive forces are modified as appropriate for the childs age. We encourage connections between vitalistic mums in the community. and love helping young families be as healthy as they can be. Our role is to help optimise their brain body connection through a healthy functional spine, and encouraging family members to take responsibility for their role in health. Chiropractic can be very useful during pregnancy. It can often help to alleviate the aches and pains that come with a growing belly and lax joints, and through an optimal spine and nerve system may help you be the best you can be throughout pregnancy. Sports and Fitness
Chiropractic is well aligned with the sports and fitness world, allowing athletes to improve their performance and function. Elite athletes from triathlons, basketball, soccer, crossfit and many other sports use chiropractic care as part of their normal routine. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YIBmhqYAQg) Normal spinal function can be altered by repetitive movements, muscle tearing during heavy lifting, fatigue and poor technique. This then creates poor feedback and makes it harder for athletes to function to their highest capacity. Chiropractic is helpful to create normal alignment and improve the pull and control of the large muscle groups used in everyday sports and fitness. 1
We see a wonderful array of well experienced folk in the practice! Aches and pains in the musculoskeletal system are common as people age, and research supports the potential benefit of chiropractic care for this (2, 3). A recent randomised controlled trial in older people showed statistically significant improvement in sensorimotor function and multi sensory integration associated with falls risk, and an improvement in the physical component of quality of life (4). More research is always needed, and we love applying the best available evidence to help our older tribe members improve their spinal health.
